Rudrashakti Electronics offers APFC Relays, PFR 1001. It is compact (96 x 96 mm) front panel-mounting type PF/kVAR controller for controlling switch on/ off cycle of up to 4 capacitor banks. It substantially improves the PF of the system. It includes built-in sensitive 2.5 digit electronic PF meter having a range of .00 to 1.00 (lag and lead) with negative sign for indicating lagging PF. It can maintain the power factor of the system within desired range by sensing the system PF and then, switching on or off the connected capacitor banks automatically, as per the load requirements. Since the load pattern may not be uniform throughout any working day in an industrial unit, the capacitive kVAR required to compensate the inductive load may vary from time to time, and thus imposing limitations on manual switching of capacitor banks. It can prove to be a useful device in designing electrical sub-systems aiming for energy conservation and reduction in energy bills. Provision is made for cyclic switching sequence of capacitor banks and optimised timing cycle with due allowance for capacitors to discharge to a safe value. It gives assured functioning of even at very low loads, and the operation free from spurious surges and harmonics. It is designed for 415 V AC, 5 A CT secondary system.
