Campa Cola to set up Rs 10 billion bottling plant in Bihar

Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), led by Mukesh Ambani, is taking a major step in expanding the Campa Cola brand by investing Rs 10 billion in a new bottling and manufacturing facility in Begusarai, Bihar. The project will span 35 acres, and the land has already been allotted to EPIC Agro Product Ltd, the company producing and distributing Campa Cola, as confirmed by Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA).

This development comes on the heels of RCPL’s recent launch of a similar plant in Guwahati, Assam, underscoring its aggressive growth strategy to deepen presence in eastern and northeastern India. Since acquiring Campa Cola in August 2022, RCPL has been rapidly scaling operations, creating an expansive infrastructure network including bottling plants, logistics, and supply chains.

Competing directly with global giants like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo, Campa Cola has made a strong market impact through aggressive pricing and higher retailer margins, prompting pricing responses from rivals in select markets.

RCPL has ambitious plans to make Campa a pan-India FMCG player, with the brand projected to surpass Rs 10 billion turnover in FY25, according to Reliance’s Q3 results. Under the Campa umbrella, the company offers variants like cola, orange, lemon, energy drinks, as well as Raskik, a fruit-based rehydration drink, and Spinner, a sports drink.

Campa has also made its international debut in the UAE, and plans to expand to other parts of the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
For Bihar, this marks the second major investment in the beverage sector this year. In March, SLMG Beverages, Coca-Cola’s largest bottler, announced a Rs 15 billion plant in Buxar, with another Rs 15 billion plant in the pipeline.
