FICCI president asks Modi govt to focus on 'Making in India for the world'

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his third consecutive term, the Indian business community's expectations are gaining prominence. In an exclusive interview, Anish Shah, President, FICCI, stressed the importance of the new government prioritising "Making in India for the world." Shah outlined a strategic vision for the country, urging comprehensive efforts to leverage India's strengths and bolster its global stature.

Highlighting key priorities, Shah highlighted the imperative of establishing India as a premier manufacturing hub by reducing costs, enhancing ease of doing business reforms, and positioning the nation as a destination for high-quality products. He emphasised the critical role of research and development in achieving these objectives.

Shah also advocated for advancing women-led development in manufacturing and labour sectors, promoting equality and inclusivity. Additionally, he called for measures to boost farm productivity, develop efficient value chains for agricultural prosperity, and foster sustainable urban communities pivotal to a green economy and climate transition.

Regarding budget expectations, Shah commended previous budgets for their focus on long-term growth through investments and capital expenditures, which yield substantial multiplier effects. He expressed hope for continued fiscal discipline, inclusive growth strategies, and sustained investments across economic sectors.

Reflecting on the Modi 3.0 government's initial Cabinet decision to sanction government support for constructing three crore houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), Shah lauded the move as a significant step towards inclusive economic growth.
