Taiwan Smart Manufacturing Pavilion spurs India–Taiwan collaborations

The Taiwan Smart Manufacturing Pavilion at the Taiwan Expo in India 2025 (held from 25–27 September 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi) successfully concluded its three-day run, underscoring Taiwan’s critical role as a supportive force for the “Make in India” initiative. The event attracted significant interest from key Indian industry stakeholders, including official delegations from the Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK), the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), the Automation Industry Association (AIA), and the Indian Footwear Components Manufacturers Association (IFCOMA). Over the course of the exhibition, the Pavilion recorded more than 100 industry visitors and engaged with 85 potential buyers, demonstrating a high conversion rate of interest into tangible business leads.

The Pavilion served as a dynamic platform for immediate, high-value discussions, translating technological showcases into concrete project inquiries across multiple sectors. HIWIN, a leader in motion control, attracted a series of inquiries from diverse industries during the three-day show. These ranged from high-volume PCB gluing applications requiring automation to enhance output and consistency, to linear guideway and ballscrew replacement demands from automotive component manufacturers, as well as applications in injection moulding where robotic arms are needed to handle finished products. This breadth of interest underscored HIWIN’s versatile solutions and the strong demand in India for advanced motion control technologies to modernise production lines. Separately, TECHMAN Robot received over 40 inquiries from local electronics and automotive parts manufacturers keen to transform their manual conveying and assembly lines with advanced AI cobots.

Reflecting India's commitment to modernisation, the Pavilion hosted a delegation led by Chandrima Chatterjee, President of CITI, the country’s largest textile association. They engaged with Taiwan’s textile A-Team, focusing on energy-saving dyeing and green auxiliary solutions, showcasing Taiwan’s competitive advantage in sustainable manufacturing processes. In the footwear sector, companies such as HORNG CHII and YESSING also reported significant interest. YESSING, specialising in lamination machinery, was approached by an Indian shoe materials manufacturer seeking solutions for developing more durable and uniquely textured shoe materials, leveraging Taiwan’s precision processing capabilities. HORNG CHII was approached by a major shoe OEM factory—a supplier for international brands like Hush Puppies and MANGO—to visit their plant and discuss upgrading and automating existing manufacturing lines.

Beyond one-on-one business matching, the Pavilion became a true centre for interaction. Guided buyer tours provided association delegates with structured overviews of Taiwan's latest smart manufacturing technologies, enabling targeted discovery. Meanwhile, the interactive "Quiz & Robot Challenge" event drew large, enthusiastic crowds, offering over 400 participants a memorable first-hand experience with Taiwan’s user-friendly automation capabilities. The high engagement levels confirmed that Indian manufacturers are not only ready for but actively seeking sophisticated, integrated, and reliable smart solutions to accelerate their manufacturing evolution.
