Honeywell Technologies (NASDAQ: HON) has announced a major skilling commitment in India, aiming to equip more than 300,000 students with future-ready capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, sustainability and advanced technologies by 2030 under its flagship Saksham initiative.

Over the past 10 years, Honeywell Technologies has impacted more than 1.3 million beneficiaries through programmes aimed at making education more inclusive and future-focused.

To deliver large-scale skilling programmes, school transformation initiatives and innovation-led interventions for 300,000 students across India, Honeywell Technologies is partnering with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, BharatCares, Ladli Foundation and the Foundation of Science, Innovation and Development, an arm of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (FSID-IISc).

As industries accelerate the adoption of digital and sustainable technologies, developing a future-ready workforce has become critical to sustaining economic growth and competitiveness. India, however, continues to face a gap between industry demand and talent readiness. According to the India Skills Report 2026, published by ETS in collaboration with CII, AICTE and AIU, employability has risen to 56.35 per cent, while demand for skills in AI, data, cloud and cybersecurity continues to outpace talent supply.

Through Saksham, Honeywell Technologies is bringing together academia, government, non-profits and industry to create stronger linkages between education, skills and employment.”

He added that initiatives ranging from smart classrooms and sustainability learning to Centres of Excellence and startup incubation are designed to deliver measurable, long-term impact and expand access to opportunities for students across India. Saksham, he said, reflects the company’s commitment to advancing the vision of Viksit Bharat by building a future-ready talent and innovation pipeline.

Under the IIT Bombay–Honeywell Technologies Centre of Excellence for Future Skills & Innovation, more than 100,000 undergraduate students across the country will be reached through a network of colleges. Expert-led courses will cover five tracks — Sustainability Reporting, Sustainable Finance, Energy Security, Sustainability Infrastructure and Policy Advocacy. The centre will also support applied research projects, research fellows and startup incubation to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.

The Honeywell Technologies Future Skills Edge programme aims to train 200,000 students in AI and cybersecurity through hybrid, project-based learning. It will be supported by four Centres of Excellence in government institutions in Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka and Telangana. Implemented with BharatCares, the programme targets 50% women participation and aligns with Skill India, NEP 2020 and Digital India.

Through the Honeywell Technologies Saksham School Transformation Program, developed in partnership with Ladli Foundation, the company will transform 12 government and government-aided girls’ schools across Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Karnataka, benefiting more than 12,000 underprivileged students. The programme covers smart classrooms, digital skills training, health and hygiene awareness, leadership development, teacher training and community engagement.

Honeywell Technologies has also been working with FSID-IISc since 2018 on startup incubation and innovation support. By the end of 2030, it will support nearly 75 early-stage deep-science startups and Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EIRs) across AI, renewable energy, sustainability, cybersecurity and digitisation. Startups will receive seed funding, mentorship and access to advanced R&D infrastructure, with a focus on founders from underrepresented communities.

Under the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, Honeywell Technologies engages more than 50 underprivileged interns every year. The initiative provides graduating students with hands-on industry exposure, mentorship and practical workplace experience, supporting upskilling, career readiness and employability.

The Saksham initiative is implemented through Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), Honeywell Technologies’ philanthropic arm in India. It is designed to expand access to quality STEM education, support inclusive and sustainable growth, and build a pipeline of future-ready talent aligned with evolving industry needs, while supporting India’s ambition to become a global technology and innovation hub.
