Sterlite Power bags orders worth Rs 3,800 cr, growth up 90% in FY23

Sterlite Power won new orders for Rs. 3,800 crores in first three quarters of FY23. The company made a growth of 90 per cent as compared to FY22 with multiple projects of uprating existing power transmission lines and product orders for conductors and optical ground wire (OPGW).

Power transmission developer Sterlite Power has bagged multiple orders worth Rs 3,800 crores approximately in the first three quarters of financial year 2023, as per announcement on January 24, 2023. With the orders succeeded under its ‘Solutions’ business unit, the company made a growth of 90 per cent in the domestic and international markets as compared to FY 2022. The new order won are uprate of existing power transmission lines and product orders for conductors and optical ground wire (OPGW) from large customers across the world.

The new orders are uprate in existing power transmission lines for 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) and state utilities like Meghalaya Power Transmission Corporation Limited (MePTCL), and West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL). The company will also supply and install OPGW for fiberisation of the existing transmission network for 66 kV, 132 kV, 220 kV and 400 kV for Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (HVPNL). The action will result in maximizing the power-carrying capacities of existing transmission corridors, ensuring faster, more economical, and sustainable means of solving energy delivery challenges.

In the products business, the company has bagged prestigious orders for conductors and OPGW from large customers in India, America, SAARC, and MEA region for major green energy transmission projects. Sterlite Power has also acquired orders for the supply of Extra High Voltage (EHV) cables to state utilities like Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL). The company has also taken turnkey EHV cable projects including substations at various state utilities of India.

The business unit manufactures and sells a diversified portfolio of products, covering high-performance conductors, OPGW and EHV-insulated power cables. It also offers underground EHV turnkey services for cable laying and substation development. It has a diverse domestic and international customer base, including central and state electricity transmission companies, power transmission infra developers and transmission, engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors. Further, its Master System Integrator (MSI) sub-unit is a provider of speciality contracting services, delivering bespoke solutions for the upgrade, uprate and fiberisation of brownfield transmission infrastructure projects.

Under the infrastructure business unit, the company has six transmission projects under development. Recently won inter-state transmission system projects in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, and North-East India will play a pivotal role in connecting clean and green power to the national grid. The Kishtwar transmission project is based in Jammu and Kashmir and comprises a 400/132 kV Geographic Information System (GIS) substation at Kishtwar and a 400 kV Kishenpur - Dulhasti LILO (Line in Line out) transmission line. The Nangalbibra – Bongaigaon transmission project involves the construction of approximately 300 ckt km (circuit kilo metre) of transmission lines and a greenfield substation with 320 MVA transformation capacity across the North-Eastern terrain of Assam and Meghalaya.

The company is also building its largest green energy transmission corridor in Gujarat, aimed at meeting India’s renewable energy target of installing 500 GW connecting the wind energy zones of Bhuj to the load centres in Maharashtra and Gujarat. With this Sterlite Power is also handleimg projects of national interests such as Mumbai Urja Marg Limited, Goa Tamnar Transmission Project, and Udupi Kasargode Transmission Limited.
