Scimplify secures $9.5 million in Series A funding led by Omnivore

Bengaluru-based specialty chemical manufacturing startup, Scimplify, has raised $9.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Omnivore. The round also saw participation from Bertelsmann India Investments, as well as existing investors 3one4 Capital and Beenext.

Founded in 2023 by Salil Srivastava and Sachin Santhosh, Scimplify operates as a business-to-business (B2B) platform that manages the end-to-end sourcing and manufacturing of specialty chemicals. The startup plans to utilise the new capital to boost its research and development (R&D) capabilities and expand into new markets.

Scimplify serves a wide range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and personal and home care, offering a full spectrum of services from contract research to commercial chemical manufacturing. Srivastava highlighted the potential within India’s mid-sized specialty chemical factories, noting their deep expertise and the capacity to significantly increase national output over the next five years. Scimplify’s platform leverages cutting-edge R&D and consistent global demand to provide a tech-enabled, full-stack solution to modern, agile customers.

Before launching Scimplify, Srivastava led the chemicals vertical at Zetwerk, while Santhosh brought experience from his tenure at B2B vendor management startup Bizongo and B2B e-commerce platform OfBusiness.

The global specialty chemicals market was valued at over $800 billion in 2023, with agrochemicals and pharmaceuticals accounting for more than 60% of the market. India, the world’s second-largest exporter of agrochemicals, is expected to double its chemical output by 2027. Mark Kahn, managing partner at Omnivore, praised Scimplify’s platform for its ability to deliver affordable and sustainable agrochemicals and green chemistry intermediaries, positioning India as a leader in sustainable chemical manufacturing.
