Maersk expands cold-chain logistics with state-of-the-art facility in Gujarat

Global logistics operator Maersk revealed its plans to enhance its cold-chain logistics presence by establishing a new facility in the Mehsana district of Gujarat. Spanning over 260,000 sq ft, this dedicated space will be exclusively allocated for HyFun Foods. The upcoming facility, attracting an investment of Rs 113 crore, is designed to provide temperature-controlled storage solutions for perishable frozen processed food items, as stated by the company.
Maersk emphasised that the new cold store, positioned in close proximity to the customer's manufacturing site, will function as the primary Cold Store facility. Vikash Agarwal, Managing Director of Maersk South Asia, assured that the Mehsana facility would adhere to the highest standards of temperature compliance. Equipped with a customised racking system tailored to meet customer specifications and employing modern technology for optimal operational accuracy, the facility aims to set new benchmarks in the industry.
The facility, boasting a capacity for 14,700 pallet positions, is set to be constructed at the Fanidhar Mega Food Park, establishing itself as one of India's largest single-shed cold stores, according to Maersk. This sizable space will streamline cargo storage for the customer, consolidating it into a single facility rather than dispersing it across multiple smaller locations before dispatch.
