The Centre has designated Koppu Sadashiv Murthy as the new Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), succeeding Nalin Shinghal, who held the position since July 8, 2019. Murthy's appointment will take effect from the date he assumes the role, starting on or after November 1. The decision was made during the board meeting held on October 30.
BHEL stated in its regulatory filing that the appointment proposal for Koppu Sadashiv Murthy as CMD has been approved by the Board of Directors. He is slated to serve in this capacity from the date of assuming office, starting no later than November 1, 2023, until his superannuation on February 28, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes first.
The Ministry of Heavy Industries communicated the approval from the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) to BHEL. Presently, Murthy holds the position of Executive Director at BHEL, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise in power generation and engineering to his new role.
