SamridDHI Hosts Rotating Machinery Bootcamp at Pune's COEP Tech University

SamridDHI, under FSID and backed by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, held a three?day Rotating Machinery Bootcamp at COEP Tech University to train students in turbines, compressors, and pumps.

A three?day Rotating Machinery Bootcamp under the SamridDHI skill?building programme by Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) of IISc, supported by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, was organised at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, COEP Technological University, Pune. The initiative aimed to equip final? and pre?final?year engineering students with practical, industry?aligned expertise in rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, and pumps.
The bootcamp provided an in?depth understanding of the design, operation, and diagnostics of rotating machinery. Students engaged with advanced topics including vibration analysis, dynamic balancing, and system monitoring, supported by 3D interactive simulations replicating real?world mechanical operations. Highlights included sessions on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Digital Twin technologies, offering insights into how smart systems are transforming diagnostics, performance, and predictive maintenance in modern industry.
Yogesh Pandit, Director – Product Acceleration at FSID, said: “This bootcamp is part of Pravriddhi, a pan?India product accelerator programme. It seeks to train thousands of students in advanced manufacturing and mechanical engineering under the academic leadership of IISc mentors. By integrating VR, IIoT, and domain?specific guidance, the programme prepares India’s engineering graduates to excel in a rapidly evolving manufacturing landscape.”
Special thanks were extended to Sunil Bhirud, Vice?Chancellor, COEP Tech University, Nagesh Chougule, Head of Mechanical Engineering, COEP Tech, and Vikas Phalle of VJTI, Mumbai, for their support in facilitating the bootcamp.
FSID, promoted by IISc, focuses on translating scientific knowledge into practical applications for industry and society. Through its four entities—CORE Labs, STEM Cell, TIME, and SEED—FSID drives corporate collaborations, deep?tech start?up incubation, SME innovation, and rural technology interventions.
Pravriddhi is a national product accelerator programme by FSID, the innovation and research arm of IISc. It promotes indigenous product development in capital goods and manufacturing, reducing import dependency and strengthening industry?academia collaboration. The programme supports India’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision to establish the country as a global manufacturing leader.
