Marcel de Bruijn, General Manager of the Harting manufacturing operations in Zhuhai, China, has been nominated as a citizen of honour of the city of Zhuhai. The distinction has been bestowed on 97 citizens since the year 1997.

de Bruijn was honoured in acknowledgement of his personal and vocational activities. The city lauded the commitment of the Dutch national and his family to integrate into local society, his interest in regional culture and the Mandarin language. The leadership and management policy of the Harting plant impressed just as much as the company's sales growth. In addition, his efforts in training and cultural matters were also emphasized. Harting grants scholarships for the Jinan University and supports cultural events. In a thank you speech addressed to Marcel de Bruijn the municipal government made particular mention of the entire Hartingcompany as an important part of society in Zhuhai.

"I regard the honorary citizenship not only as an acknowledgement of my personal commitment, but far more as a distinction bestowed on the entire company group. As an internationally operating company, Harting endeavours to adapt to specific cultural aspects and make a contribution to society.
