DPIIT grants PLI upgrade to Calcom under scheme for white goods

New Delhi

Calcom Vision Limited, one of India’s leading Original Design Manufacturers (ODM) and Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) providers, has been elevated to the Large Investment category under the Government of India’s flagship Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for White Goods — a milestone that underscores Calcom’s commitment to strengthening India’s LED component ecosystem.

Following upgraded approval from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Calcom raised its investment pledge from Rs 100 million to Rs 250 million — and has already deployed the full amount ahead of the scheme’s five-year timeline. This proactive investment reflects Calcom’s strategic readiness and ability to scale rapidly in India’s dynamic manufacturing landscape.

This elevation significantly broadens Calcom’s eligible product range to now include LED Drivers, Modules, Engines, Mechanical Housings, Heat Sinks, Diffusers, and Light Management Systems (LMS) — key to developing a self-reliant domestic LED supply chain.

Backing Aatmanirbhar Bharat through execution, this step aligns with the Government’s Make in India initiative. The Rs 62.38 billion PLI Scheme for White Goods is driving India’s rise as a global hub for LED and air-conditioning component manufacturing. As of early 2025, Rs 104.78 billion in investment commitments have been made by 84 approved companies, with cumulative production goals exceeding Rs 1.72 trillion by FY2028–29.

Calcom’s enhanced investment alone is expected to generate Rs 159.6 million in performance-based incentives, driven by Rs 1.50 billion in incremental sales by FY2026–27 — more than twice its earlier projection under the initial PLI phase.

Abhishek Malik, Executive Director at Calcom Vision, said, “This PLI upgrade is not just government recognition — it’s a clear endorsement of Calcom’s long-term vision. By front-loading our entire Rs 250 million investment, we’ve signalled our intent to lead. As India ramps up local manufacturing and exports, Calcom is ready to be the agile, design-driven, globally competitive partner the nation demands.”

Calcom’s advanced 30,000 sq metre facility in Greater Noida, equipped with comprehensive R&D and backward integration capabilities, is well-positioned to support India’s move toward energy-efficient lighting and smart electronic solutions.
