Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is embarking on a new venture as an industrialist, poised to establish a steel factory in Salboni, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal. Ganguly, who was part of the delegation accompanying West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during her 12-day journey to Spain and Dubai, announced that the factory's construction would be completed within five to six months.

Taking the opportunity to express his gratitude to the Chief Minister, Ganguly shared, "I would like to extend my thanks to the Chief Minister as we embark on the construction of our third steel plant in Bengal. Many believe I'm solely associated with sports, but back in 2007, we initiated a small steel plant, and now, within five to six months, we will commence work on our new steel plant in Medinipore."

Addressing the 'Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS)' in Madrid, Ganguly further stated his confidence in completing the cutting-edge facility within a year's time. He emphasised that this estimation was based on practical experience rather than his association with the Chief Minister, as similar projects have been expedited in just four to five months.

Reflecting on his family's business legacy, which was initiated by his grandfather some 50-55 years ago, Ganguly underscored the state government's historical support during that period. He noted, "This state has always extended invitations to the global community for business endeavors. This is precisely why the Chief Minister is currently representing the state in this country. It is evident that the government is committed to fostering the state's development and empowering its youth."
