INFRA PLUS stationary infrared temperature sensors are used for contactless measurement of temperature. Developed by Ultrakust division of Bartec MeBtechnik und Sensorik GmbH, Germany, the instruments are sturdy and use the Infrared principle to measure the temperature. The P-Net field bus allows the computerised changing of process parameters. They include the emissivity factor, influences by radiation, ambient temperature, and air velocity. The chosen spectral bands allow an operation unaffected by disturbances of water vapour and CO2. The object can be viewed via a laser pointer or through the lens sighting. An air purge keeps the lens clean within dusty environment. An automatic supervision of the system is possible, both over field bus and in stand-alone mode. All parameters can be programmed and monitored by an optional display/keyboard unit on the rear of the camera head. An integrated water cooling extends the operating temperature up to 150?C. Output signals are 0-1 V, 0/4-20 mA, galvanically separated. Measured values have an accuracy of < 0.5% ?1 K; temperature measuring range is -50 to 3,000?C; smallest spot diameter is 0.6 mm and distance of object to sensor is 0.1 m to 6 m. These can measure temperature on shiny metallic surfaces, objects within changing emissivities, objects behind glass/quartz, wood, plastics, flame gases, within ovens, etc. The models available are spectral, proportion (ratio), multi-channel and infra(Ex), for use in explosive areas.
