Precision International offers high-speed, low-power spindles operational with high-frequency electrical supply, developed by Elte of Italy. These are suitable for the purpose of engraving on wood, elastic, brass, steel and other materials. These spindles are available with outside diameter of 60 mm, maximum speeds of 24,000 or 40,000 RPM and power capacity 0.25 kW or 0.55 kW respectively. The bearings used are of angular-contact type; with grease-lubrication. In the spindles meant for 40,000 RPM, the bearings have ceramic balls, which permit a higher rigidity necessary for that speed. These spindles are driven with high-frequency drives, and are cooled through a water-emulsified cooling medium carried in a special re-circulating tank offered as an option. The spindle is carried in a housing, and holds the tool in a collet. The roses of these spindles are vast in engraving machines, those meant for marking on name-plates, or in the production of small dies for jewellers or for other purposes.
