High-Frequency Milling Spindles

Gamfior of Italy has pioneered the manufacture of high frequency milling spindles with incorporated high-frequency motor inside the spindle. The use of these heads can increase the productivity of CNC milling machines for producing moulds and dies, and yet provide the highest level of finish. It is possible to have the choice in the same cycle, of very high torque, or very high speeds, according to the roughing or finishing cycle. The tool-attachment is normally of HSK-63 type, but other choices are also available. These heads can be installed on the new CNC milling machines which are under manufacture, or retrofitted on the old ones with the help of an Organisation specialised in retrofitting work. All components are hardened, and ground. The rotating parts are dynamically balanced for less than G 0.4 residual unbalance. The radial and the axial runout at the front tool-mounting seat of the shaft is within 2 and 1 micron respectively. The bearings used are of SNFA ABEC-9 quality, having ceramic balls. The power available is up to 50 kW, and speeds up to 75,000 RPM. Gamfior heads are available also for boring and drilling on CNC machining centres.
