High-Frequency Grinding Spindles

Gamfior of Italy are internationally reputed for the manufacture of grinding spindles, both belt-driven as well as with a high-frequency self-contained motor. They have now introduced the new generation Series GNS in the latter type. Spindles of this type have the rotor produced from very special electrical laminations, so as to provide up to 36 kW power within a spindle body diameter of 170 mm, in many versions, with a maximum speed of up to 105,000 RPM. All components are hardened, and ground. The rotating parts are dynamically balanced for less than G 0.4 residual unbalance. The radial and the axial runout at the quill mounting seat of the shaft is within tolerable limits. The bearings used are of ABEC-9 quality, having ceramic balls. Spindles with OD 170 mm can be used also for external grinding. The Series GNS can be supplied for manual HSK attachment DIN69893. The company continues to produce the earlier Series EG having speeds up to 260,000 RPM. It also produces high frequency milling heads with the choice of high power (up to 100 kW) or high speed (up to 90,000 RPM). A modern service centre is going to be established in India jointly by Gamfior and Precision International.
