Grinding SPM

Lavingia Enterprise, manufacturers of cylindrical and internal grinding machines, have developed a face-grinding SPM for grinding of small and medium sized component faces. A typical application would be to grind the gear faces of automotive transmission gears. The machine can be used for grinding the first (reference) surfaces or it can be used for grinding the second parallel surfaces. The fully automatic machine employs a VIT-CBN abrasive wheel. Alternately, conventional grinding wheels can also be used. The grinding cycle is fully automatic, controlled by a micro-controller based system. Feeds are by stepper motor drive. Minimum feed resolution is 1 micron. Auto size control is built-in. Grinding parameters - eg, depth of cut, feed rates, spark-out timings, dressing cut, dressing frequency - are programmable. The system re-employs the LCD display for operator interface, for setting up the machine, as well as to display the grinding cycle progress. This makes it very easy to program and manage. It is offered with various work-holding devices to suit the component. Auto loading/unloading devices to suit various work-pieces are also offered.
