Cylindrical Grinders

Hariss cylindrical grinders are available as external or universal grinding machines. They can be supplied with automatic grinding cycle -- rapid approach; coarse infeed; fine feed; spark out; dwell; rapid retraction or with semiautomatic cycle where the feed is manual. Grinding allowance and coarse and fine feed rates can be preselected. The bed is a rugged box structure with hand scraped large Vee and flat guideways. The upper part of the table can be swivelled and accurately set for angular grinding. The wheel head spindle is of alloy steel duly hardened and ground. It runs in precision angular contact bearing/hydro dynamic multi-point bearing arrangement for smooth and vibration free running. The infeed system moves on preloaded hardened and ground roller guides for a stick-slip free fine movement. The infeed is operated through a precision ground cam. Standard machines give a guaranteed accuracy of 2 microns on roundness on live spindle and a wheel head positioning repeatability of 2 microns and Ra value obtained is 0.4 micron. Machines in special execution for higher roundness accuracy of 1 micron can also be supplied. Maximum job length between centres can be up to 1500 mm. These machines have applications in tool rooms as well as in batch production.
