NEC Electromagnetic Hammers are the perfect solution for bulk material handling problems in spray dryers, bins, hoppers, cyclones, etc. The electromagnetic hammers are great for applications where sticky, clinging, or fine materials adhere or build-up on the inner surface of the container wall. They are compact, maintenance-free, and operate better than any other hammering system on the market today. NEC Electromagnetic Hammers consist of a stator and rotor, which are made out of high-grade strip lamination to minimize iron losses. There are two salient poles on the stator over which excitation coils are placed. When the hammer is excited by a short duration electrical pulse, the rotor takes the position of minimum resistance to the magnetic path. The part movement of the rotor shaft is directly transmitted to the hammer stroker. The stroker, in turn, hits the hopper with strong force and returns to its original position.

Bridging: Electromagnetic Hammer is designed to break up bridging by providing powerful impacts to the side walls of the container.


Arching: By creating powerful vibrations Electromagnetic Hammer loosens material and breaks arches, allowing free flow.

Rat Holing: Shaking the sides with cycled impacts ensures constant flow of material and avoids rat holing.


Adhesion: Shakes down material stuck to the walls, allowing complete emptying of the container.


Clogging: Concise impact of Electromagnetic Hammer breaks up material & clears throat of build up allowing free flow.

Selection Guide for Electromagnetic Hammer:

Selection of Electromagnetic Hammer depends on various factors such as the container wall thickness, design of stiffeners, type of product, etc.

General Guide-line:

  • Model NEH-S for container wall thickness less than 2 mm
  • Model NEH-50 for container wall thickness 2 mm to 3 mm
  • Model NEH-75 for container wall thickness 4 mm to 8 mm
  • Model NEH 75B for container wall thickness > 8 mm

Note: Number of hammers depends on the geometry of the container. A control panel with a sequential timer is required for the operation of thes hammering system. Design of the control panel depends on the model and number of hammers to be installed on the container.
