Acoustic Cleaner/ Sonic Horn

Acoustic Cleaner/ Sonic Horn

The sonic horn is specifically designed to produce and amplify low frequency sound vibration at high intensities for effective removal of unwanted particulate build-up. The use of sound vibration is a proven method of fluidising dust or material build-up in air pollution control and food drying equipment.

NEC acoustic horns are unique cost effective, low maintenance, innovative effective solution that operate better than any other traditional methods of preventing particulate build up and aid material flow within a wide range of industries. These horns prevent particulate build up and aid material flow within a wide range of industries and process applications wherever ash, dust, powders or granules are processed, generated, stored or transported. The acoustic cleaners provide a powerful and effective solution to boilers, electrostatic precipitators, super-heaters, economizers, air heaters, ductwork, filters, ID fans, spray dryers; horizontal and rotary drum vacuum dryers, mixers and blenders, dry material bulk vehicles, ship cargo holds, air classifiers, silos and hoppers, etc.

Operational features:
Acoustic horns consist of wave generator and amplifier, which are made form SS. Acoustic horns are designed to produce acoustic energy and amplify low frequency sound at high intensity for effective removal of unwanted particulate build up and aid material flow. Acoustic horn produces extremely high-pressure acoustic energy level with a fixed frequency band. The powerful sound waves are produced when the short bursts of standard plant compressed air enter the wave generator and force the only moving part, titanium or high grade material diaphragm to flex creating the powerful “base” sound wave. This “base” tone is then transmitted by a range of different bell sections into selected fundamental frequencies between 75 – 230 Hz.

Sonic Horn is designed to be maintenance –free and easily adaptable to most powder build-up applications. However, its performance to remove powder build-up acoustically may be effected by the following:

  • A wet or dry compressed air supply
  • Incorrect compressed air supply pressure
  • Poor installation location
  • Moisture condensation
  • Operating with a worn diaphragm plate
