Spindles for Centreless Grinders (Gamfior)

Gamfior S.r.l., of Italy (now owned by the German company Franz Kessler), known to the world for the last 80 years for the manufacture of high-precision grinding spindles, offers centreless grinding spindles both for the production of new grinders, as well as for the replacement of existing spindles of the hydrodynamic type. These spindles are equipped with super-precision ball bearings adequately selected for the load-carrying capacity and the speed. The spindles are supported on bearings at both the ends, and have provision for the belt-drive at one end. Spindles can be supplied pre-fitted with electronic dynamic balancers or with a provision for these to be retrofitted by the customer at a later date. Centreless grinders are used for the thru-feed grinding of cylindrical parts, like rollers; rings; shafts; cylinders; bushes; hydraulic-spools and pistons; pins; etc., which are parts of bearings, shock-absorbers, hydraulic pumps, and others. Others are centreless grinders operating in the plunge cycle for the grinding of externally grooved parts, like those of CV joints; stepped-shafts; etc. Old machines having spindles originally fitted internally with wedge-type circular bushes are difficult to maintain since the manual skill needed to do scraping for rebuilding the oil-pockets is gradually becoming unavailable. To recoup the huge investment made in such grinders, Gamfior spindles offer an ideal solution for throwing out the existing spindle, insert in its place the new spindle, and run. In India this drive has started already, and many companies are modernising their existing grinders.
