Electronic Brake

Jeltron's Model EB2 series electronic brake stops the load by injecting a controlled amount of DC current into an AC motor. The EB2 series features full wave DC braking which allows smooth low- level peak braking current. The average DC current applied to the motor can be increased without damaging the peak current levels of typical half-wave design found in other electronic brakes. The brake circuitry monitors the voltage from the magnetic contactor. The brake automatically goes into the brake mode when the voltage to the motor is removed. In the braking mode, DC current is applied to the motor windings creating a static magnetic field which brings the motor to a smooth and quite stop. The torque adjustment allows to select the braking profile that is best suited to a given application. The time adjustment or optional zero speed sensor shutdown completes the ideal stopping profile. All units are designed to be interlocked with a magnetic contac- tor and can be used in a jogging mode. The EB2 series electronic brake offers long life and maintenance free operation. The need for maintenance associated with mechanical brakes is eliminated. The braking friction and wear associated with brake linings is no longer a problem. Optional features include high torque, auto stop, 127 seconds stop time, isolation contactor and custom built enclosures. It is available from 1 HP to 200 HP rated motors.
