Transformer

  • The transformer which has no direct current path between its primary winding & secondary winding is called an isolation transformer. It gets 3 phase+ neutral supply from MSEB.
  • Normally, the neutral which they get from MSEB is very poor and neutral to earth voltage gets increased as load increases.
  • By using an isolation transformer with delta input and star output, it can eliminate the need of neutral form MSEB.
  • Some of the product advantages are compact size and reduced weight; increased thermal stability and higher short-term over load capacity; higher surge withstanding capability; enhanced ability to withstand short circuit currents; reduced impact of harmonics and high frequency on the design of transformers; greater insulation reliability; lower cost; neutral failure problem eliminated (delta-star construction); high insulation resistance; reduction of noise.
