Normally weld sets are kept continuously On even when welding operations are not being carried out. During these periods the welding transformer draws the magnetising current or no-load current without doing any useful work. The welding set energy saver detects these non-weld periods and switches off power to the welding transformer after a preset time interval and hence saves power during these periods. When welding operation is to be restarted, the operator just needs to touch the electrode with the material to be welded. The non-weld period power loss on a 12 kVA set is approximately 2 kW per hour. So use of this device will save 6-8 units per shift, considering normal weld cycle. Also available are digital sound level meters, digital wind speed and direction indicator, digital vibration meter, digital anemometer, cyclic load energy saver (auto star-delta converter), etc.
