Krishna Kumar Thakur engaged with WRI experts to discuss ways to enhance the institute's capabilities and also inaugurated the robotic welding station, which will play a key role in training trainees under the CEFC project.

The Welding Research Institute (WRI) at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in Tiruchi has recently inaugurated a new robotic gas shielded welding station. Krishna Kumar Thakur, Director- Human Resources, BHEL, performed the inauguration.

During his three-day visit to BHEL’s Tiruchi and Thirumayam units, Thakur inspected the WRI and the training facilities at the Common Engineering Facility Centre (CEFC), which is supported by the Union Ministry of Heavy Industries. He engaged with WRI experts to discuss ways to enhance the institute's capabilities and also inaugurated the robotic welding station, which will play a key role in training trainees under the CEFC project.

In addition to his visit to the WRI, Thakur met with BHEL’s general managers, product and functional heads, executives, and representatives from employee unions. His visit included tours of various production facilities, including those for boiler production, advanced technology products, valves, and the Seamless Steel Tube Plant.

Thakur also reviewed the civic amenities at Kailasapuram Township and inaugurated a new indoor shuttle badminton court at the BHEL Community Centre. He concluded his visit by planting a tree sapling at the factory premises. S. Prabhakar, Executive Director, BHEL Tiruchi Complex, and other senior officials accompanied him.
