Vertical Honing Machine With Computerised Control

The CK-21 computerised vertical honing machine is designed for precision honing of 3/4" (19 mm) to 8" (203 mm) bores in applications such as smalI engine blocks, air cornpressor cylinders, valve bodies and aircraft cylinders. To increase production efficiency, the unit features a microrocessor-based control system that enables the operator to control all aspects of the production cycle. A powerful 3-HP (2.2 kW) spindle motor allows faster stock removal for faster cycle times. In addition, the CK-21 can use Sunnen"s hone heads designed for use with superabrasives to further increase honing performance. Operator adjustments to spindle speed, stroke speeds, feed rates, stone wear compensation, size control and bore geometry are all made via the control system. Also, the operator can store multiple machine setups-eliminating the need to re-enter machine setup information. The CK-21 offers several other key features. A real-time graphic display enables the operator to monitor and hold geometry of the bore to within (6 microns) depending on the application. Also, two different spindle speeds and multiple feed rates can be used during one honing cycle with the "Profiled Feed" feature" "The SizeLoc feature enables a diameter to be "locked in" so subsequent bores are automatically honed to the same diameter.
