Stainless Steel Belts


Stainless Steel Belts can provide unique solutions to many applications. The plain stainless steel belts are created by welding together two ends of a metal tape to form an endless belt. The high-energy beam welding techniques, pioneered in the space program, form a high integrity butt weld that is extremely strong and smooth. These belts are also available with precision perforations, with precision machined, cast, or molded attachments, as drive tapes with specialized end attachments or perforations to perform with zero or near zero backlash, and with combinations of above.

Design Guidelines

  • Pulley diameter 625 times the belt thickness
  • Avoid reverse bends
  • Minimum number of pulleys
  • Use low initial (preload) tension
  • Adjustable shaft or idler pulley
  • OR Use Belt Technologies Independently Steerable Pulley (ISP)
