Spiral wound gaskets

Champion Jointings offers Spiral wound gaskets for use on a range of flanges and closures. Standard material is SS 304 with white Canadian (Chrysolite) asbestos filler. Other materials used are SS 316, aluminium, copper, monel, plain steel or zinc coated steel, all with various types of fillers. These gaskets are used for sealing pressure/vacuum to 175 kg/cm? and temperature up to 565?C in flanged joints, boiler tube caps, hand holes, man holes, etc, against oils, steam, gases and liquids. Special spring like metal strips are wound with an asbestos/PTFE/grafoil filler by a special process to assure a leak proof seal. The asbestos filler does the sealing and the metal strip provides the spring. This combination of metal and soft asbestos filler piles compresses to its predetermined thickness under bolting pressure and thereby prevents leakage within the limit of its specified pressure and temperature.
