Flue gases enter into wet scrubber at bottom side and pass upward. The wet scrubber is a cylindrical vessel with an array of liquid (alkaline medium) spraying nozzles through a distributor at the top of the scrubber with spraying arrangements at different elevations for effective contact of both the media, followed in the same exit by a set of random packings (ceramic rings and saddles) for effective gas cleaning and improved mass transfer. The packings are most suitable for highly corrosive applications.
