BHEL-EDN’s high current rectifier has the following features: based on state-of-the-art technology using microprocessor based controls and low loss thyristors, demineralised water-cooling for all major heat generating components in the panels, typical ranges include currents from 0 to 120 kA and voltages from 0 to 1500 V DC, the equipment is tailor-made and hence any rating can be supplied based on customer's requirement, circuit configurations commonly employed in such systems are bridge and double star with IPT in 6 or 12 pulse configurations, in case of multiple converters, 24 pulse configurations can also be offered, applications for such equipment exist in caustic soda plants, chemical aluminium smelters, zinc smelters, copper smelters etc., similar systems with high power diodes can also be supplied.
