The Film Burner is now available commercially and one can take advantage of the many benefits it offers. These include: 15% or more reduction in fuel oil consumption; higher turn-down radio of 7:1; operates at low percentage of excess air – less than 10%; reduces sulphur corrosion due to lesser formation of sulphur tri-oxide; can handle heavier viscosity grades of fuel oils as compared to conventional burners; less sensitive to variations in oil pre-heating temperatures – saves energy which would otherwise be used in pre heating the oil; the flame stabilises within seconds of start-up due to improved atomisation; can handle pre-heated combustion air up to 250ºC without associated problems of oil cracking, thereby preventing choking of burner nozzles; reduces heating time, leading to higher productivity; and eliminates the problem of fuel oil dripping.
