Elgi guinault alternators conform to a series of international standards - IEC 34-1 - the International Electrotechnical Commission, VDE 0530 - the German Standards of manufacture, BS 5000 - British Standards and IS 4722 - the Indian Standards for rotating electrical machines. The body of Elgi guinault brushless alternator is fabricated with standard steel, designed to ensure proper distribution of airflow over the core and windings. High efficiency aluminium alloy fan and effective airflow distribution maximise the heat transfer ensuring long winding life. The windings are treated with superior vacuum pressure impregnation, which enhances tropicalisation and improved thermal stability. The stator winding as well as the rotor winding are with class H insulation.High power to weight ratio is achieved by optimising the winding pitch, which also eliminates third harmonics and enhances the performance with non-linear loads. Further the total Harmonic Distortion is kept under check at less than four per cent. The damper winding is distributed evenly at pole tips for better performance under parallel operation.
