Sando Industries specialises in the design and manufacture of cone screw dryers. Essentially, a cone screw dryer consists of a jacketed conical vessel with an orbiting arm and rotating screw which provides three-dimensional motion. The heat transfer jacket may be constructed for heat transfer media. Basically heat is transferred into the product through a jacketed vessel wall to evaporate moisture or solvents. A mixing screw revolves along the vessel wall and circulates the product continuously from bottom to top of the cone where mass is transferred as a liquid or vapour within the solid which helps the vapour to be free from particles and improve the heat transfer conditions. Drying efficiency accelerates by keeping conical vessel under vacuum. In vacuum system, the vessel under constant vacuum removes the vapour from the feed material and the light fine powder is separated from vapour and into a bag-filter. The vacuum operation inside the vessel reduces the boiling temperature of the solvent and does the drying at considerably low temperature. For the recovery of moisture or solvents, a condenser along with a receiver can be provided. Drying time is totally dependent on the material characteristics, heat conduction of solids and solvents, pressure and temperature. Cone screw dryers are ideal for final drying of powders, granules, pastes and slurries used in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, chemical, and food industries. They have a highly versatile design for use in drying, heating, mixing, reaction, granulation, homogenizing, and dispersion, under pressure, vacuum or atmospheric conditions.
