Selenium based automotive batteries have advantages over other lead alloy combination batteries. These are available with the following features: hybrid grid design (low antimony positive and calcium negative); low antimony alloy with special additives; excellent charge acceptance; electrolyte contains special additives to get quick recover from deep discharge; and low antimony alloy and large top-of-plate-acid head room to facilitate low maintenance. Advantages: high cranking power, low maintenance and high performance, better voltage characteristics till the end of life, maintaining top-of-charge voltage, and quick recovery from deep sulphation.
