A dual motor run capacitor comes as a single unit with a dual purpose. They are used in some electrical appliances such as air-conditioners, washing machines and various other appliances where two motors operate singly or separately. A single unit supports two electric motors simultaneously. It minimises the space of an additional component as well as simplifies the circuit. Also reduces the cost of inventory and helps increase productivity. Faulty run capacitors are often bulge or burst due to heavy inrush of over current or voltage, which can cause damage to its surrounding components. Dual capacitors have a built in "pressure sensitive interrupter" designed to rupture the connection whenever there is a rise in the internal pressure. The top of the capacitor with terminals expands and rises upwards and breaks the contact of the supply to the capacitor element. Motor run capacitors feature a low-loss, self-healing, MPP (metallised poly-propylene) film dielectric system, non-PCB oil-filled, protected by 10,000 AFC and UL-approved safety pressure interrupter. Motor run capacitors range from 0.5 to 150 microfarads and are offered in voltages ranging from 250 through 660 V AC. These are designed to operate in continuous duty over a broad temperature range from -25°C to +85°C with full rated 50/60 Hz AC voltage applied. Possible applications include: electric motors, pumps, air conditioning, compressors, lighting and general-purpose AC applications. Motor run capacitors offer outstanding electrical characteristics, high capacitance stability over time and temperature and very low internal power losses (dissipation factor). Standard terminations are 2 or 4 spade quick-disconnect terminals. Options available at an added cost include bleeder resistors and mounting brackets.
