Polyethylene

The Supreme Industries offers Polyethylene, SIL-XL-C. It is a fire retardant closed cell chemically cross-linked polyethylene. Technical details: material form - rolls, sheets and pipe sections; application - thermal and acoustic insulation; areas of application - AC and humidification ducts, spandrel insulation, underdeck, hot and cold water pipelines, and acoustic flooring; operating temperature: -40ºC to +115ºC; colour - grey; nominal density (kg/m3) - 30 kg/m3; thermal conductivity (W/mºK) - mean temperature - 0ºC, 20ºC; W/mºk - 0.031, 0.032; K Cal/hr mºC - 0.026, 0.027; water absorption, % by weight after 28 days (as per ASTM D 3575) - 4.35; water vapour transmission rate for bare foam in gms/hr.m2 (as per ASTM E 96) - 0.41; tensile strength (N/m²) - 27; tear strength (N/m) - 23; compression (N/m²) - 2.9; thermal stability at 50ºC for 48 hrs - no visible changes observed; UV weather resistance at 60ºC for 100 hrs; exposure to weatherometer - no visible changes observed; oxygen index - 29%; horizontal burning (as per UL 94) - material conforms to HBF grade; oven ageing at 70ºC for 7 days - no visible changes observed; ozone resistance for 48 hrs at 50ºC at 50 pphm - no visible changes observed; fungus resistance (as per ASTM G 21) - no visible growth observed; and rating - zero.
