The art and science of welding is rapidly evolving with new trends and technologies incorporated in the process.

The whole welding world changed from transformer, generator and rectifier to inverter based technology welding equipment. Now with Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology based inverter welding machines occupy the whole welding equipment market, because of its current carrying capacity, voltage capability and its switching speed. Kemppi – world leading manufacturer of arc welding equipment – has introduced FASTMIG X series designed for high quality welding and professional use. Where FAST indicates Formula Arc System Technology. FastMig X is not a standard machine. It’s a flexible set-up of high-quality components, always selected to precisely match with customer welding needs. It comes with two sets of maximum current output ranges 350 A and 450 A.

FastMig X is a multi-purpose welding power sources suitable for MIG/MAG, Manual Metal Arc Welding (MMAW) and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding (with additional unit – MasterTig LT 250). MIG/MAG welding supports for synergic MIG, pulse and double pulse MIG. FastMig X is always configured to meet its customer needs, whatever they are: materials from mild steel to special alloys, from thin sheets to thick plates, conditions from hot to cold, working environments from workshops to shipyards, etc.

Arc Voltage Measurement:

FastMig X is capable of measuring and showing the voltage close to the welding arc. By taking this feature into use we don’t need to be concerned about the voltage losses in welding cables anymore. With this feature we only require to set the voltage for the arc before welding and we can see the voltage close to the arc after welding. So arc voltage is easily kept within the WPS Limits.

Match Function

FastMig X series supports Match Function. This allows using of two pre-defined sets of welding parameters during welding. We can toggle between these parameter sets by pressing the welding gun trigger briefly without having to stop welding.

FastMig X Series comes with three sample set-ups, viz., Regular, Pipe and Intelligent. According to our application/requirement we can select the type of set-up to match our requirement. FastMig X is fully compatible with Kemppi ARC System 3, the most extensive total welding management software in the world.

Wise Functions

FastMigX fully supports the following wise functions software:

Wise Thin +: It is a tailored cold arc process for manual and automated thin sheet welding and brazing. Typical applications include quality light plate fabrication in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including automotive manufacturing. Wise Thin+ feature provides 10-25% less heat input than normal MIG/MAG welding. Because of the less heat input the post weld material distortion also reduced. Wise Thin+ feature helps to reduce the spatter level in welding of all the materials.

Wise Root +: It is a highly efficient and unique tailored short arc process for manual and automated root pass welding. Designed for the effective closure of root joint areas and also the accommodation of gaps created by poor joint fit-up, WiseRoot + is five times faster in root closure than TIG welding.

Wise Penetration: It delivers consistent power to the weld pool regardless of changes in welding gun orientation or distance between the welding gun and work piece. It is suitable for both manual and automated synergic MIG/MAG welding. Normally in MIG/MAG welding the power to the weld pool is changing as the operator is varying stick out distance. These deviations can result in quality issues such as lack of fusion, incomplete or inconsistent penetration, changes in weld profile and of course welding spatters.

Wise Fusion: It creates and maintains an optimal short circuit characteristic in pulsed MIG/MAG and spray-arc welding applications. Keeping the arc length optimally short for manual and automated welding, Wise Fusion ensures consistent weld quality in all positions and eliminates the need for regular parameters adjustments.

Arc Mobile Control

Fast MIG X is having the Arc Mobile Control facility. With the help of Arc Mobile Control we can adjust welding parameters and settings wirelessly; easily monitor welding parameters during or after welding and also copy ideal settings from one welding set to another. It can be used with android-version-4.0 and above operating system installed mobile phones and tablets.
