Safety at work – Cable stripping

JOKARI is launching a new cable knife generation: the system 4-70. Different types of cables can be stripped with just one tool. This is made possible by the unique cable bracket system.

Companies incur high costs when employees are temporarily absent due to accidents at work. In addition, operating procedures are also affected. To prevent this happening, JOKARI has developed a technically well thought out solution. With the new cable knife system 4-70, safety during electrical installation is considerably increased. The new hooked blade protection mechanism ensures safe use and reliably prevents injuries.

According to the Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (BAuA), the number of accidents at work in 2014 in Germany resulted in a loss of production based on labour costs of EURO 57 billion. This was published in a report by the governmental research institution concerning “Health and Safety at Work 2014”. On the whole, the number of accidents at work has reduced and is below the million mark. In order to continue to keep the number of work days lost due to illness in the area of electrical installation as low as possible and simultaneously reduce related costs, JOKARI is presenting its product under the motto “The Best. Re-invented” – the next tried and tested cable knife generation.

Flexible and safe

For the past five decades, the company based in Ascheberg has been producing one of the best-selling cable stripping tools. JOKARI is synonymous with quality and is the tool of choice for electrical installation. With the system 4-70, the company has revolutionised this basic model. Cables from 40 to 70 mm in diameter can be stripped quickly and easily with only one tool. This flexibility is made possible by the unique cable bracket system: the basic model has a bracket (8-28 mm in diameter), further sizes are available on request. Whether building installation or power installations - the new JOKARI is ideal for all standard cable sheath dimensions.

Well thought out protection mechanism

In order to greatly increase safety at work, JOKARI has developed a special mechanism in the form of a protection cap. It securely covers the hooked blade at the end of the cable knife. For slitting cable sheaths with the hooked blade, the protection mechanism must be pushed back. This is done by operating a locking switch with two lock symbols (open and closed). The blade is only released after the switch is moved into the required position. There are four cutting depth settings, depending on the cable sheath thickness. When the protection cap is retracted, the locking switch automatically returns to the standby position. The hooked blade is quickly covered again so that any risk of injury through slipping during use is avoided.

Safe companion

The German Occupational Safety and Health Act (ArbSchG) obliges employers in Germany to assess working conditions to improve health and safety at the workplace. For this purpose, it is recommended to use the new cable knife system 4-70 from JOKARI: intelligent protection functions make this tool a safe companion for industrial use.
