Super Industrial Lining Pvt Ltd, a member of DuPont India Preferred Processor's Network for PTFE/FEP/PFA lined pipes systems, fittings and valves and E I DuPont India Pvt Ltd invited prfessionsl from the pharmaceutical and chemical industry in Hyderabad on 25 September 2010 for a Technical Presentation on Managing Corrosion with Teflon? (PTFE, FEP, PFA, ETFE).

The programme started with a welcome speech by Navdeep Goyal, Director, Super Industrial Lining, followed by Naresh Goyal, Managing Director, Super Industrial Lining, Pardip Khaladkar, Principal Consultant - DuPont Engineering, USA, and Kamal Aggarwal, Director Chemcon Specialty Chemicals, and Narendra Thakkar, Business Development Manager E I DuPont India.

S R Sastry (Executive Director) from Super Industrial Lining, made a technical presentation with introduction to the huge production facility at Vadodara, which has the capacity to execute big projects, product range, and world class inspection facilities including the hydrostatic test, electrostatic test, qualification test (high temperature test, low temperature test, steam cold water cycling test, vacuum testing). He stressed on the information required by the end user like temperature, vacuum, types of fluid transferred for execution of the orders. There was also a presentation on group companies Super Scientific Works, a market leader in borosilicate glass equipment manufacturing and Chemcon Specialty Chemicals, a market leader for HMDS in India.

The technical presentation from E I DuPont India was given by Mr Khaladkar. The main presentation topics discussed were:

• Application of Teflon products to fight against corrosion in chemical and pharma API plants
• Engineering design considerations for use of Teflon Fluoropolymers + right material selection
• Teflon as an economical replacement to expensive metals like titanium/hastalloy, and
• Technology discussed for Teflon PTFE lined pipes, fittings, tanks, valves, pumps, etc.

Mr Khaladkar gave the presentation from the view of end user problems. He stressed on the right selection of the polymers keeping in the mind the end user working conditions and selection of the right vendors (preferably DIPPN members as they are qualified to process and offer fluoropolymer products). He discussed about what type of failures happens and how to handle the failures.The audience included engineering heads and supply chain management personnel from leading pharmaceutical companies from Hyderabad. This presentation was part of initiative from Super Industrial Lining and E.I DuPont India to educate and solve end user problems in PTFE/FEP/PFA lined pipes, fittings and valves.
