Electronic Automation Pvt Ltd (EAPL) has adopted solar power for its plant. Taking inspiration from his Guruji, Swami Veda Bharati, to conserve fuel energy, the Shri Madhav Kamat, Managing Director of EAPL, has had installed a 24kWp solar photovoltaic roof top (SRTPV) system, which will ensure uninterrupted power supply to the factory.
By utilising solar power Shri Kamat had also met the noble objective of the National Solar Mission to tap alternate sources of energy and conserve limited fuel resources. Unlike traditional solar systems, this system does not store any energy. The energy generated is either consumed or exported during the daytime. This system will fulfil the demands of the factory, and send the excess electricity to the power grid.
The system integrates EAPL energy meters such multifunction meter, DC energy meter, MPP-T, etc., with a well designed panel where electricity is measured and directed for efficient operation of the solar system.
BESCOM (Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd, responsible for power distribution in 8 districts of Karnataka) will pay EAPL Rs 9.56 for every unit of electricity exported to the grid. However the storage type system is proposed to be installed in the EAPL Admin Building, which is presently under construction. This is going to be Net-Zero Building (NZB), different from the one mentioned above because it will permit the excess energy to be stored for use as and when required.
In future this building can be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified. The system is ideal to adopt in any industry to meet renewable power obligation (solar photovoltaic) imposed by Central Electricity Regulatory Commission.
As a result of this, EAPL will be able to bring down CO2 emission by about 24 tonnes per annum, thus minimising its carbon footprint. The SRTPV system, which is integrated with the electronic instruments of EAPL, including MPPT (maximum power point tracker), was designed, engineered and installed by Solar Corona Energy Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru, in July 2015. The system started producing electricity from the auspicious day of Guru Purnima (July 31, 2015). “We are proud that Solar Corona Energy Pvt Ltd and EAPL have together undertaken this project from concept to commissioning, using the highest quality materials and executing the project in the most professional manner. We hope that our partnership with Solar Corona Energy Pvt Ltd will serve as an inspiration to other industries and businesses,” said Shri Kamat.
