Crouzet's innovative micro switches and limit switches are used in a wide range of railway applications such as rolling stock and infrastructure. These safety critical switches detect positions and switch currents (high or low) within harsh environment applications and have been designed to meet the stringent quality standards.

The PBX Secure positive opening switches have been designed to meet the requirements of the railway market and complement our reliable line of micro switches and limit switches, key components for harsh environment applications.

Thanks to Crouzet's reliable micro and limit switches (direct opening action, sealing levels from IP40 to IP66/IP67/IP69K, double-break, low temperature, high temperature, magnetic blow-out, etc), application needs of railways like door locking systems, automatic step and barriers, switch machines, braking systems, emergency stop, master controllers and auxiliary contacts for circuit breakers, etc., are met successfully.

The systems have been developed and tested in compliance with current standards (EN 60947, DIN 41636 type F, NF EN 50124-1, NFF 16 101/102). The electrical configuration of the switch is based on a double insulated failsafe circuit (1 NO-1 NC) with two types of contacts available, based on the voltages and switching loads involved. Available in IP40 or IP67 versions, the sealing design is patented.

The PBX switch has a mechanical service life of 10 million cycles and features a long pushbutton travel range after reaching the electrical switching point, which helps to absorb any deviations from mechanical tolerances during equipment wear over time. What's more, the PBX switch can be adapted to your applications by adding special connections and outputs, as well as customized actuators and an insulation cover.

Reliability - through Positive Break Action

There is no reliability without security. The mobile mechanism integrates a positive break action mechanism in compliance with the IEC 60 947-5-1 annex K. This guarantees the opening of the electrical contacts after the electrical tripping point travel. On top of that, the mechanical design has a long total travel which makes the integration easier inside an application.

Flexibility - Sealing

The PBX range proposes two levels of sealing in the same housing: IP40 and IP67. The IP40 version integrates a silicon membrane assembled on the plunger. The IP67 version integrates a special sealing silicon device gathering a membrane and a joint. This device guarantees the sealing both for the plunger and the electrical heart. IP67 design is patented.
