India is emerging as a key centre for aerospace manufacturing, with Airbus, a major aircraft manufacturer, entering into a collaboration with Bengaluru-based Dynamic Technologies to produce all doors for the A220 family aircraft in the country. This partnership signifies a significant milestone and underscores the success of the Make in India initiative.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia highlighted the country's growing status in global aerospace manufacturing, emphasising the importance of the aircraft door agreement for Dynamic Technologies in the context of the Prime Minister's 'Make in India, Make for the World' initiative. He credited the government's pro-business policies for India's increasing prominence in the aerospace manufacturing sector.

This marks the second door manufacturing agreement between Airbus and an Indian supplier. In 2023, Airbus had previously joined forces with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd to manufacture doors for Airbus A320 family large-scale and freighter aircraft. Under the new agreement, Dynamic Technologies will be responsible for manufacturing and assembling doors for various aircraft types, including cargo, passenger, and service aircraft, as well as the A220 family aircraft, which includes eight doors per aircraft, including overwing emergency exit doors. Aircraft doors are intricate structures, integrating advanced technologies to meet rigorous safety and efficiency standards.

India's aerospace manufacturing sector has gained momentum due to improved infrastructure and increased government focus. Private companies have rapidly developed India as a preferred destination for aerostructures, components, sub-assemblies, and complex system assemblies. Major global original equipment manufacturers have established joint ventures in India, contributing to the production of both commercial and defense aircraft and helicopters.

The A220, with a range of up to 3,600 nautical miles (6,700 kilometers) and a seating capacity of 100 to 160 passengers, aligns well with India's Udan scheme. This initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity and foster economic growth across the country.
