Avery Dennison unveils RFID facility in India

Avery Dennison has inaugurated its first RFID inlay and label manufacturing facility in Pune, India, marking a key milestone in its expansion across South Asia. The facility brings advanced RFID production capabilities closer to regional customers, improving supply chain efficiency and accelerating innovation in intelligent labeling solutions.

This strategic move aligns with the company’s broader mission to drive transparency, sustainability, and efficiency through smart labeling technologies. The Pune site is set to become a major operational hub supporting industries such as retail, logistics, and healthcare.

In line with its innovation-led approach, Avery Dennison recently collaborated with Becton Dickinson (BD) to launch the BD iDFill — a pre-fillable syringe with integrated RFID for unit-level digital traceability. The RFID tag, embedded in the syringe's needle shield, allows for real-time authentication, enhanced inventory management, and reduced risk of mix-ups in healthcare environments. The BD iDFill will be showcased at Pharmapack Europe in January 2025.

With the Pune facility and healthcare innovations like iDFill, Avery Dennison is reinforcing its leadership in RFID and smart packaging technologies across industrial and medical sectors.
