Srinivasan, CEO, Meiban Engineering Technologies Pvt Ltd., speaks about the company’s products and activities.

When did the company come to India? What changes have you witnessed during this period?

We started our operations in India in 2005, but were operational through our agents before that period. In the last 10 years , we have established our all India network and have started supporting our customers directly. As far as the market is concerned, we have seen a reasonable growth, quick decision making and more customers, who are looking for automation.

What are the main products/activities of the company in India?

We mainly take care of Muratec‘s machine Tool division. We sell and provide servicing to Muratec‘s Turning machines with Gantry loaders, CNC sheet metal machines alongwith turnkey solutions for Automotive components.

How significant is the Indian business?

As of now, the business from India is still small as compared to China and other global counterparts, but we are getting in to the growth mode to capture more business in India.

Make in India initiative – Is this the best time to be in the Indian market?

We think so. While it is always good to be present locally to support any market, now incentives are more, at least in some part of the operations in India. Slowly things are becoming better and infrastructure is also improving. It would not be wrong to say that there is no other better time to be in India.

GST is now a near certainty. What more steps are required to make the country more business friendly?

Too early to say, but we welcome the GST and sincerely hope that the Government will ensure ease of doing business with a single tax option, across the country. The main concern is on the role of state and central governments to make the business process easier. There might not be much need for sops, but a need for better co-ordination and understanding of the process of GST alongwith ensuring smooth functionality without too many hassles, is what we are looking forward to!
