HANNOVER MESSE 2025: AI and global cooperation lead industry revival

HANNOVER MESSE 2025, the world’s leading industrial trade fair, concluded on a high note, signalling a renewed sense of direction and optimism for global industry. With around 127,000 visitors from 150 countries and 4,000 exhibitors, the event underscored how AI, automation, digitalisation, and electrification are transforming industrial efficiency. The event also emphasised its role as a platform for economic policy, technology innovation, and international cooperation.

Dr Jochen Köckler, CEO, Deutsche Messe AG, highlighted the fair as a “powerful commitment to the future viability of industry,” particularly in challenging global conditions. AI emerged as the top theme, with demonstrations showcasing how manufacturers can enhance productivity and reduce costs. A study presented by VDMA and Strategy& revealed that generative AI can improve profit margins in mechanical and plant engineering by up to 10.7 percentage points.

Canada, this year’s partner country, made a strong impression with over 500 delegates and exhibitors. The country showcased strengths in AI, renewables, and digitalisation, reinforcing its commitment to transatlantic cooperation and sustainable growth. Stéphane Dion, Head-Delegation, Canada praised the fair’s impact on market diversification and global collaboration.

Industry leaders like Dr Gunther Kegel, ZVEI and Thilo Brodtmann, VDMA also stressed the need for Europe to support industry with streamlined regulations, free trade agreements, and reliable investment conditions. With a strong presence from countries like China, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Japan, the fair reinforced its global importance.

Hydrogen technologies were another highlight, with over 300 companies participating in the ‘Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE’ exhibition, pointing to a sustainable path for future energy.

Overall, HANNOVER MESSE 2025 stood out as a beacon of innovation, resilience, and global industrial synergy.
