Abhishek Bohra, Partner, Bohmen Industries, shares the trends and opportunities of electromechanical switch market.

With the company being active for over four decades now, how would you describe the market progression for electromechanical switches and the assemblies associated with it over the years?

Frankly, it is a bit overwhelming to realise that we have been around for close to 4 decades. However I believe there has not been a better time to be in the Indian industry. There has been a sea change in the approach of many of the existing players coupled with a fresh take by the new entrants. We find a lot of buyers for our products looking for quality at a value proposition. This is quite contrary to what was happening for several years. Make in India seems to be an inspiration for this.

Could you take us through the featured product lineup of Bohmen Industries in brief? Any new product launches?

We are niche players in the switchgear industry. Our product line covers various applications across the industry. We offer general purpose switches which are used by all industries. We offer miniature form factors as well as all polymer switches for specific industries with customised features. We also have a medium to heavy duty range which has tremendous promise in today’s scenario. Soon, we plan to launch emergency safety switches, something that we lack in our range.

What are the major end users the company caters to, in process automation?

Process automation is in itself inherent to any form of industry whether big or small. As a product, any industry is an end-user for us. To name a few, Indian Railways, textile machineries, material handling equipment, special purpose machineries, etc.

How do you think the Indian manufacturers can benefit from the growing global market of industrial limit switches?

Any market showing growth at a steady pace is always attractive to its players. On the global platform, Indian products enjoy a legacy, but fail to capitalise on it due to price competition on offer. Presently the reforms are definitely helping to counter this situation.

What are the quality measures taken by Bohmen Industries to provide products at par with international standards?

We are an ISO 9001-2015 certified quality management system wherein we design, manufacture and supply products for various applications. Most of our products are confirming to CE directives. We will complete the range in the present year the next step is to attempt and achieve similar marks for the global market such as UL & CSA.

How is the import-export scenario in general for electromechanical switches in India?

As I mentioned earlier Indian products enjoy a legacy which can be very beneficial in the current regime, that is supporting make in India.

Could brief us about your exports business (in terms of products exported, countries, etc)?

We have a fledgling export business across the globe and hope to increase its volume in the coming year based on our quality certifications.

What are your growth plans for the company?

We have invested in increasing our plant size and developing it with an in-house tool room these will help us in producing quality products and being competitive at the same time.
