Wipro 3D, Christ University sign MoU for advancing Industry-Academia Cooperation

Wipro 3D, India’s leading provider of Additive Manufacturing (AM) (3D Printing) Solutions and Christ University, an institution of higher education recognised by the UGC (Deemed University) providing undergraduate, post graduate and research programmes in diverse disciplines have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for advancing the Industry – Academia Cooperation.

The scope of the MoU covers various areas of collaboration like Additive Manufacturing service, joint research and projects, career oriented and career progression academic programmes. This collaboration is key to fostering innovation and growth in technology. The topics of this MoU are well aligned with the focus areas as mentioned in the National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing, released by Government of India in February 2022. Few outcomes targeted are innovation, Intellectual Property (IP) creation, skill development and increasing technology awareness.

Commenting on this occasion, Dr Iven Jose, Dean, School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) said that Industry preparedness of the graduates largely depends on the industry oriented skills and relating the theory with the applications. Industry collaborations help bridge the gap between Industry and Academia in terms of skill training, experiential learning and industry practices. The MoU signed with esteemed company WIPRO 3D is envisaged for a long-term engagement to benefit students and faculty for training on different aspects of digital manufacturing and Industry automation. He expressed his gratitude to WIPRO 3D for collaborating with SOET.

At the MoU signing, Yathiraj Kasal, General Manager and Business Head for Wipro 3D, said, “Through this Memorandum of Understanding which covers various areas of Additive Manufacturing (AM), Wipro 3D and Christ University are poised to advance the understanding, adoption and research of this cutting-edge technology. Together, we will make the progress in AM, layer by layer, and empower future generations with the power of limitless creation.”
