Versuni India, formerly known as Philips Domestic Appliances, has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, focusing on the production of air fryers and garment steamers. While the company has not disclosed the exact investment figure, it has revealed that the initial capacity of the Ahmedabad plant includes manufacturing 500,000 air fryers and 200,000 garment steamers in phase 1, with scalability to 1 million units.

The establishment of this factory is anticipated to generate 1,000 jobs over the next three years, encompassing both direct and indirect employment opportunities. Henk de Jong, CEO of Versuni, emphasised the significance of this development, stating that the Ahmedabad factory exemplifies the company's commitment to India as a strategic growth market. Currently, approximately 70% of the products marketed to Indian consumers are manufactured within the country, a figure expected to rise to 90% in the coming years due to the strategic decision to open the Ahmedabad factory.

The facility will focus on producing flagship products such as Philips Airfryers and Garment Steamers, aligning with the evolving preferences of Indian consumers. Notably, Versuni is introducing the manufacturing of the Airfryer in India for the first time, incorporating a fully integrated automatic robotic coating line to meet the surging demand. The manufacturing facility adheres to global standards, including CE certification, ensuring that the production processes meet stringent quality benchmarks required by the international market.

This new factory inauguration follows Versuni's recent entry into India's home security devices segment in 2023, which garnered positive responses in terms of consumer engagement and sales. It underscores Versuni's commitment to adapting and diversifying its product offerings in response to emerging market needs.
