TVS Motor Company, a leading international manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, announced the establishment of its Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design and Engineering in Bologna, Italy. The move reinforced its long-term strategy to deliver premium, future-ready mobility solutions across worldwide markets.

As part of this initiative, TVS Motor acquired 100 per cent ownership of Engines Engineering S.p.A., the renowned Italian automotive design and engineering specialist known for advanced prototyping, high-performance motorcycle innovation, and MotoGP racing expertise. The acquisition highlighted TVS Motor’s commitment to strengthening its design and engineering base to accelerate the development of next-generation mobility platforms.

The CoE was designed as a concept-to-product innovation hub, integrating Engines Engineering’s capabilities with TVS Motor’s global R&D strengths. By combining engineering teams and widening access to global talent, the CoE enhanced speed to market, product differentiation, and technological leadership.

In addition to supporting TVS Motor’s premium and future-focused portfolio, the CoE also strengthened Norton Motorcycles, the company’s iconic British brand, advancing its mission to create modern luxury motorcycles with cutting-edge performance and design.

Sudarshan Venu, Chairman of TVS Motor Company, stated: “The Italian Global Centre of Excellence marked another milestone in expanding our capabilities and accelerating our journey to redefine mobility. By uniting Engines Engineering’s creativity and racing expertise with our strengths in engineering and design, we expanded our ability to deliver premium, connected, and electric vehicles that set new standards globally. The Centre further enhanced Norton’s capabilities, enabling it to advance its craft of high-performance motorcycles that honour its legacy while shaping its future.”

Key focus areas of the CoE included:
  • Design leadership and engineering excellence: advancing digital simulation, rapid prototyping, and modular platforms to set benchmarks in reliability and performance.
  • Future mobility technologies: accelerating adoption of AI design tools, advanced materials, and digital integration to deliver sustainable, connected vehicles.
  • Global talent and collaboration: attracting world-class professionals while building partnerships with universities, startups, technology leaders, and suppliers to co-develop innovative solutions at scale.
Through this initiative, TVS Motor shortened development cycles, improved design flexibility, and expanded its premium line-up, including high-displacement motorcycles, advanced scooters, and electric platforms. Norton’s pipeline of high-performance motorcycles was also bolstered, further reinforcing its modern luxury positioning.

This step aligned with TVS Motor’s broader goal to enhance quality of life globally through compelling, sustainable mobility solutions.
